Do you ever wish your life was different? Not entirely, but maybe one or two specific details? They might be major, like your career. Or less significant, like the six-pack of neon green socks you bought on impulse.

What would I change? A host of irritants comes to mind: Self-serving politicians. Ads. Badly parked vehicles.

Let’s dream for a moment. If you could change one thing, would you delete an irritation? Or enjoy something you’ve long yearned for? The quote from today’s title goes on to say, “Beggars would ride.” What change, major or minor, would carry you off to greater satisfaction?

Most of us yearn for something. Yeah, we do. Better health, finances, relationships, streaming services and coffee. All the big stuff. I can’t change your life, but I’d like to create a temporary escape that brings you lasting satisfaction. That’s why I write fantasy fiction. We all need authenticity. But we also need the occasional break from life’s stresses.

What kind of fantasy do I write? Good question. My editor calls it cozy, but with enough darkness and death threats to pull you in deeper. Not every book in this series contains romance, but they all involve the love between friends and family. Spoiler Warning: Despite the general light-hearted approach, the material isn’t meant for the YA crowd.
If you’re looking for dragons, dwarves or diminutive winged beings, look elsewhere.

Instead you’ll find real-life relational dynamics. My champions don’t see their heroic side until life rudely summons it. Or a loved one is threatened. Or injustice sneers once too often. Hmm, maybe it’s not so far-fetched after all. I bet you’d intervene for the sake of those you care about. Yeah, you would.

If you enjoy fantasy that speaks to your inner hero (realized or otherwise), stick around. As I prepare to launch my debut fantasy novel, you might find something that resonates with you. Watch the evolution of my series. Explore what happens behind the scenes. Email subscribers get an exclusive short story prequel, then just a handful of introductory newsletters. And you’ll be among the first to know when the books are launched.

Will my stories satisfy your yearning to explore a different world? You’ll never know until you have a peek. So have fun exploring the islands of Lonecca. The sun is hot, the views are epic, and the Hogrem are always watching.

Ciao for now,
Kai
